A Turn of Events...

This week did not turn out as I had planned, that's for sure. But, that is the way God works and I am so thankful to Him that our little boy is still doing so well despite everything.

On Wednesday, I woke up with really swollen hands and what I thought were contractions. Being a first time mom, I was not sure, but googled it to confirm. My feet had been swollen since Monday, so I was not overly concerned with them. I was able to get a doctor's appointment in an hour. My visit only lasted a few minutes before he sent me to the hospital because I was having contractions. In God's perfect timing, David was off work that day and I had planned on going in late to work, so everything worked out well that way.

I was expeccting to go in and be sent home within an hour or two, but that did not happen. After about 5 hours in triage, they decided to admit me because I was having contractions every 2 1/2-4 minutes. They put me on an IV to try to put extra fluids in my system and then tried 2 different medications to try to make the contractions stopped. The medications and IV worked very briefly, but by Thursday morning I was already back up to 10 contractions in 45 minutes. So, they decided to do an ultrasound that afternoon. Brady's heart rate was wondeful through everything and his ultrasound turned out great too, praise God! He was still only looking like he was 34 weeks, so they decided to do everything possible to make sure the contractions did not start labor (I was still not dialating more than 1 cm at this point).

This morning my contractions were becoming painful again, but the medications were not helping. David and I decided to stop the medications since they were not doing their job and were making my blood pressure drop extremely low. The doctor agreed with us that there was no point for me to be on the medication and said she was going to send us home and that I should come back up if the contractions were painful again (they knew they would not stop but were hoping they would stay mild). I was thrilled to get out of the hospital, but she did bring some bad news as I have to be on bed rest for the next 3-6 weeks. They said if my contractions get bad enough in the next 3 weeks they will go ahead and take him because he will be term at that point.

So...right now we are just trying to get everything settled with work and hoping I can work from home until he comes. David has been amazing and has taken on everything at the house, which has been a huge blessing. He has already threatened to hand cuff me down as I do not do this whole bed rest thing well. So, please be praying for my sanity over the next few weeks!

I will update with Brady's latest ultrasound pictures soon!
